Market acceptance of OPEN LOOK is growing. In order to support this
momentum, Sun has released the DeskSet for Sunview to complement the
DeskSet version already shipping with OpenWindows. This product is
intended to support end-user migration from SunView to OpenWindows by
providing OPEN LOOK ease-of-use to our 4MB machines. Over time, we
anticipate that most customers will migrate to 8MB machines running
OpenWindows. DeskSet for Sunview will help ease this transition.

Note: DeskSet for SunView is intended for end-users with 4MB Sun
hardware. All developers and customers with SPARCstations should be
encouraged to use DeskSet for OpenWindows.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS:

Runs across all Sun architectures - SPARC, Sun3, and 386i.  The product
requires SunOS 4.x for SPARCsystems and Sun3's, and SunOS 4.0.1 for
386i's.

   Note: The DeskSet for OpenWindows is included with OpenWindows

Support Pricing =>

   Customers who already have a SunOS support agreement can pay $30 per
   site to extend this contract to cover the DeskSet for SunView.
   Support contracts are available through the US Answer Center.

   For customers who don't have a SunOS support agreement, time and
   material contracts can be purchased from the US Answer Center.

Upgrades =>

   No further development will be done on SunView. Future releases
   of the DeskSet will be based on OpenWindows.


SHIP SCHEDULES:

As of March 16th, the DeskSet for SunView is shipping to customers.

POSITIONING:

The DeskSet for SunView should be positioned as a bridge to help
existing SunView customers move to OPEN LOOK and OpenWindows. The tools
that are in the DeskSet for SunView will also be present in OpenWindows
Version 2. As users move to OpenWindows, they will already understand
how to operate this OPEN LOOK environment.

PRODUCT CONTENT:

The DeskSet provides a suite of OPEN LOOK based desktop tools
allowing users to work more quickly and intuitively.
