DESCRIPTION
OpenWindows Developer's Guide (Devguide) 1.0 is now shipping in volume.

Devguide is a user interface prototyping tool  which enables a
developer to graphically and interactively layout an OPEN LOOK user
interface for an application.

The developer can select OPEN LOOK elements from a palette and position
them on the screen in the exact layout they are to appear in the user
interface.  When the developer has completed the design of the
interface, he is able to test the look and feel of the interface 
before generating any code. 

The interface design can be modified at any time during the design and 
development of the application.  Devguide generates the XView C code 
that defines the user interface,  significantly reducing the time
and effort needed to define an OPEN LOOK user interface for an application.   
The exact amount of time saved is dependent upon the complexity of the
application.  However many customers have reported that Devguide has
saved from 40% - 50% of their development code and time.  Since Devguide
generates XView code in standard format it also reduces the support and
maintenance costs of applications.  

Devguide has proved to be very successful in attracting developers to the
OpenWindows platform.  The ease of development provided by Devguide makes 
OpenWindows a rich development environment for the creation of X window-based
applications.  Many developers have chosen to port to OPEN LOOK first, rather
than MOTIF, because of the ease of development that Devguide offers.

OpenWindows Developer's Guide is targeted at application developers (ISV's as
well as internal developers), user interface designers, or human factors
people involved in the design of user interfaces. 


>SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS
 
OpenWindows Developer's Guide 1.0  is an unbundled product which requires
OpenWindows 1.0.1 and SunOS 4.0.3.
