For Your Information -------------------- Bipolar Integrated Technology, Bevaerton Ore., begins shipping samples this month of an emitter-coupled logic (ECL) SPARC microprocessor. According to BIT, ECL circuit design boosts the performace of RISC. The numbers for Bipolar's first product, B5000: 80 Mhz, 50 to 65 MIPS, up to 14 Mflops for DP linpack. The six chip set consists of an integer unit, a floating point controller, two register files and a floating point chip set. Quanity 100 price: $3,300. The chip set does not include an MMU. According to BIT, their customers want to do their own design. BIT also have 100 MHz chips running in their labs! See the related story in the June 12th issue of EE Times.
