San Jose, CA -- VersaSoft Corporation unveiled its powerful dBMAN V, a dBASE III+ work-a-like for Microport UNIX and SCO XENIX. VersaSoft also revealed plans to make dBMAN V available on many other UNIX platforms. UNIX platforms targeted include mainframes such as Amdahl, IBM and Fujitsu and mico/mini computers like IBM AIX RT, AT&T 3B2, DEC Micro VAX, Data General, Sun Micro Systems, NCR Tower, NEC Astra XL and the Motorola 8000. VersaSoft's dBMAN V is known for its program and data portability and has placed compatibility as the highest priority. Portability enables software developers to take their applications written in dBMAN V or dBASE III+ for one system and run it on different platforms. Charlie Tseng, president of VersaSoft says, "We have always made portability a number one priority when releasing dBMAN V on new operating systems. We want to see that dBMAN developers have the ability to move their applications to many platforms with literally no change. Of course, if machine specific commands are used, changes will be needed." Tseng continued, "We want to give dBMAN developers the ability to penetrate different markets when they need it." dBMAN V is known by many industry observers as "The feature laden database manager" and is the only dBASE III+ work-a-like for UNIX that has over 320 extended commands and functions, scrollable data windows, a fully relational report writer, screen generator, password security, data encryption, save and restore screens and complete alias indirection on all database commands and functions. One very powerful feature of dBMAN V is the Report Writer. This powerful relational Report Writer that allows columnar and multi-lined reports to be generated WITHOUT ANY PROGRAMMING. The Report Writer is a powerful report painter which allows reports to be designed by merely placing items on the screen with the cursor keys. Report Writer features 9 opened databases with 8 relations, five different totaling methods, IF, ELSE, ENDIF contitional printing, 9 nested grouping levels and embedded dBMAN commands. Never before has such a powerful and flexible dBASE report writer been available for UNIX.
