PLV2.DRV is a device driver that allows playback of AVI files with the PLV 2.0 bitstream
to be played back under Microsoft Video for Windows.  It requires the presence of an 
ActionMedia(R) II board, AVK drivers for this board, and Video for Windows (VfW).  If you
need this driver, it has been included in the self-extracting ActionMedia II Driver Update
file, AM2UPD.EXE.  You may download this file from either Intel's BBS (916) 356-3600 or
the Compuserve IntelAccess Library 9.

PLV files are created by a Video Compression Service, that may have been produced in the
AVS file format, which is incompatible with VfW.  The AVSTOAVI file conversion utility 
must be run in order to produce a file that is usable by VfW and PLV2.DRV.  This file
converter utility will take an AVS file that is 256 x 240 pixels in resolution and
contains ADPCM4 audio and construct an AVI file that has the same video data, but converts
the audio to PCM8 (WAVE) audio.  Please see the AVSTOAVI readme for more details--this
utility is also available on Compuserve IntelAccess or Intel's BBS, as a self-extracting
file, AVSAVI.EXE.

Once an AVS file has been converted to the AVI file format, the Media Player can now be
used to open and to playback a PLV 2.0 bitstream.  PLV2.DRV will execute a hardware
accelerated playback of this video file using the i750(R) hardware.

Known Problems
When a PLV 2.0 AVI file is opened, you may receive a dialog box from Media Player with
the message, "This is no driver installed on your system."  This message means one of 
two things:

  1) You are trying to attempt to use this driver with an RTVideo board.  This driver
     does not support this hardware.

  2) Your ActionMedia II board is currently in use.  This means that some other driver,
     more than likely the IndeoTM Video driver, is using the board.  PLV2.DRV must have
     exclusive use of the board in order to function.
