Release Notes for the Intel Smart Video Recorder Releases 1.1 and 1.2 Copyright 1994, Intel Corporation. All rights reserved. This file contains important information that wasn't available when the manual went to print. WHAT'S NEW IN R1.1 Expanded data range: In the Video Format dialog, the data rate slider has been expanded to include data rates for playback on double- and triple-rate CD-ROM drives. You can now choose from these ranges when capturing with Intel IndeoTM R3.1 Video as the compression method: Video window size Minimum data rate Maximum data rate 160x120 80 300 240x180 100 450 320x240 150 500 Added an additional capture resolution: You can now capture 240x180 with Intel Indeo(TM) Video Raw. WHAT'S NEW IN R1.2 Changes for developers: The driver now returns an error if an application calls videoOpen( ) for the VIDEO_EXTERNALOUT channel. The driver now returns an error if an application tries to change to an unsupported resolution size using videoConfigure( ). The driver now changes the required buffer size when the application successfully changes resolution size using videoConfigure( ). The driver now initializes to the last-used state, or to a default state, without requiring the application to explicitly set the state using videoConfigure( ). The driver now supports frame capture without streaming. Setup: Setup now lets you know when your hard disk is full. Setup now terminates if the driver is already loaded. Setup now distinguishes between an old version of Video for Windows and no (missing) version of Video for Windows. KNOWN PROBLEMS IRQ 10: The new Smart Video Recorder boards don't use IRQ 10, so you won't see it as an option during installation. If you have an older Smart Video Recorder Board and you want to use IRQ 10, call Intel Customer Support (see the back page of the Installation Guide for phone numbers). Windows Sound System: If you're using Windows Sound System and you're having audio problems, we recommend that you upgrade to Windows Sound System Release 2.0. (To get this release, contact Microsoft.) Input signal for PAL fails in Diagnostics: PAL users (European video standard): the input signal test in the Diagnostics will always return FAILED (whether the signal passes or not). We know about this and will be fixing it. Uninstalling the ProShare: If you uninstall the ProShare(TM) Video System (release 1.0), you need to reinstall the Smart Video Recorder software. ** Indeo and ProShare are trademarks of Intel Corporation
