#1 Boring Program Info

Program Name: Slow Runnings 1.5
Software type: 3D Game - FREEWARE - Copyright 1997 by James McCue
Author: James McCue
Author e-mail: james.t.mccue@usa.net
Author's home page:

System requirements: 486DX processor or better, keyboard, monitor, VGA card or better -OH:... and you'll want to type "MEM" at your DOS PROMPT - to see how much "Conventional Memory Free" you have, because you'll need around 505k or more of that to run my game w/MUSIC & SOUND! if you don't have 505k you can still play... you'll just have to forgo the sounds...
Platform: This program is a DOS game, but it does run under Windows or Windows95... however, if your computer meets the system requirements - and is acting "sluggish" - you may want to run it in DOS MODE (not to be confused with ms-dos prompt... in Win95, you'd goto Start Menu-> Shut down -> restart the computer in MS-DOS mode. [and type EXIT when you're done playing to go back to Win95])

#2 About this game...

Slow Runnings is a 3D shooter, where "BOB" (you) is in search of the person responsible for a major worldwide calamity(a.k.a.: "Dave"). Your quest is made more difficult by Dave's army of machanical things that I've been told look kind of like ducks - as well as Dave's world morphing abilities. Your orders are to hunt him down - and kill him. Good Luck!

#3 Installation/Setup info

...if all you have is a zip... let's get started! I zipped it up using PKZIP... with the command: pkzip -P slowruns.zip d:\slow\*.* d:\slow\sndsetup\*.* That way... when you unzip (either by doing PKUNZIP -d SLOWRUNS.ZIP or using WinZip or something...) you'd get a directory called SLOW and a subdirectory of that called SNDSETUP. - now that it's unzipped - RUN SETUP.BAT FIRST... then run either WITHSND.BAT or NOSOUND.BAT...

NOTE: Don't run WITHSND.BAT unless you have successfully run SETUP.BAT first - if you have... you'll have SOUNDRV.COM, MIDPAK.COM, MIDPAK.AD, and MIDPAK.ADV in your SLOW directory...you can't just copy them from the SNDSETUP directory - because the SETUP program has to configure these files for your computer. Enjoy!

#6 Thank You
I make this stuff so that people can see it... (among other more selfish reasons...; ) I really hope you like it! - James McCue

#7 P.S.: ..this is one thing that sometimes causes trouble...

Sometimes... when trying to run SETUP.BAT under Win95, depending on what programs you're running (or DID have running beforehand), you'll get the message: "[you're audio card here] in use by another application". ... and the setup won't happen... You might try closing apps, and trying again - or try restarting... if you want set it up under win95
- OR -
You can goto StartMenu->ShutDown->Restart the computer in MS-Dos mode, goto the directory [wherever unzipped it]..\SLOW\ - and run SETUP.BAT from there.... I wanted to make this stuff as "headache free" as possible, but I figured I'd let you know of an "issue" I've been told about. Thanks again for giving "Slow Runnings 1.5" a try!
Oh! by the way... you are visitor to ACTUALLY READ THE README since 12-19-97
