Evolution and the Theory of Games John Maynard Smith Cambridge University Press 1982 pp. 224 [ evolutionary biology, game theory ] This book is for anyone interested in animal behaviour, population genetics, evolution and/or game theory. It provides a good introduction to the application of game theory to the understanding of evolution. Each new model/game is illustrated with lots of examples, some of which are really interesting in their own right (enough to make one want to take up ethology). The difficult mathematics is consigned to the appendices. Prerequisites: basic mathematics and biology and a good understanding of the theory of evolution. Danny Yee (danny@cs.su.oz.au) 17/3/92
