It is an installation and management guide for those who, having no input to the design or purchase of a LAN, are put in charge of a Novell shop. At this level, the book succeeds as a reasonable and logical guide to setup. After a few short chapters on general networking concepts, the book directs you to file servers, workstations, printers, applications, backup and security. A second section covers cabling and access methods briefly. This makes sense in light of the audience of those who have "inherited" a system. Some monitoring and troubleshooting tips end the book. Although there are no surprises for those familiar with the Novell documentation, the organization is appropriate for a computer literate newcomer to the LAN world. Do note that this is a quickstart and survival guide. It is *not* a guide for LAN construction. copyright Robert M.
