Well, maybe. The final story in the book, "Escape," does deal with some aspects of data security in an "escape-proof" prison run by a computer. It's actually pretty good, with some social engineering, a little (very little) hacking, some backup systems, some spoofing of identification systems. The final plan boils down to pulling the plug on the computer: a crude hack, perhaps, but effective. For the rest, well, it's surprising to see a book of stories by a supposed "hard" science fiction author which has so little to do with actual science, or technology. copyright Robert M.
