REVIEW: THE COMPLETE IDIOT'S GUIDE TO CD-ROM, by John Pivovarnick $14.95 Alpha Books 1994 This series bills itself "for people with better things to do..." and since I found THE COMPLETE IDIOT'S GUIDE TO THE INTERNET very fulfilling, I thought I'd check this title out. I found that it gave me all the information I needed to familiarize myself with the world of CD-ROM drives and enabled me to make a wise choice. This guide, for both PC or Macintosh users will assist you in selecting the correct hardware and installing it into your system with step-by-step instructions. Everything is explained in plain English. There's an all-important chapter on troubleshooting and what to do when you get one of those ominous error messages. I found THE COMPLETE IDIOT'S GUIDE TO CD-ROM to cover all the essentials of getting started with CD-ROM drives and disks - speeds, compatibility, standards, accessories, sound cards, speakers, etc. Once the drive is installed and running the book will familiarize you with the wonderful world of multimedia. I learned a lot from reading it and, if a CD-ROM drive is in your immediate future, you will too. Its a bargain at twice the price - and will save you a lot of hair pulling, cursing and down-right aggravation. %T The Complete Idiot's Guide to CD-ROM %A John Pivovarnick %I Alpha Books %C Indianapolis Indiana %D 1994 %G ISBN:1-56761-460-4 %P 297 pp %K CD-ROM, software (C) 1995 Michael Crestohl Nahant Massachusetts USA mc@shore.net DISCLAIMER: I have no interest, financial or otherwise, in the success or failure of the book or materials reviewed herewith, nor have I received any compensation (other than a review copy requested by me) from anyone who has.
