Wentworth Worldwide Media sent me some samples of two magazines. Turns out that they are pretty good. The other journals I've seen have been very expensive; IBA is closer to realistic. The other journals have a lot of pompous opining about the Information SuperCliche. IBA has some very practical tips. The other journals have all been rather unfamiliar with the actual technologies of the Internet ... well, two out of three isn't bad. IBA has published only four issues so far, so there is a lack of focus. The writers do not yet have a thorough feel for the network community. (An ad using the phrase "user-friendly" is seen as having no "hype", while an article on netiquette recommends using "abbreviations" (BTW, AFAIK, ROFL, IMHO) as often as possible.) Reviews, particularly of books, tend to be recycled press releases. Still, the four issues do show a growth and maturity trend that bodes well for the future. Also included with the package was an issue of "Classroom Connect", a magazine for teachers using the Internet, to which much the same applies. copyright Robert M.
