REVIEW: TEACH YOURSELF WEB PUBLISHING WITH HTML IN A WEEK SAMS 1995 If last year was the year of the Internet, this year is certainly the year of the Web. Following the style and format of SAM's Teach Yourself series, TEACH YOURSELF WEB PUBLISHING WITH HTML is a tutorial that if followed daily for seven days will teach you to become proficient with the HTML language. You'll read two chapters a day which will present one or two Web concepts. By weeks end you will be able to create home pages, present information about products and services and create multimedia presentations combining text, images video and sound. Day One explains the World Wide Web and Hypertext. Day Two introduces you to HTML and Hypertext links. Day Three covers more about HTML, links and URLs. Day Four concentrates on multimedia on the Web. Day Five shows you how to design effective Web documents. Day Six explains servers and gateways and Day Seven goes over some advanced topic and tips. After you have followed the HTML course of study, TEACH YOURSELF WEB PUBLISHING WITH HTML will serve as a desk reference. Appendices include sources for additional information and a summary of HTML commands. Author Lemay has done an outstanding job with this fine tutorial. I must confess I did not follow the course of study but reading through the text showed me that it is written in clear, unimposing language with a fine sense of humor that will make it as easy as possile for amyone (including me) to learn HTML painlessly and easily in a very short time. I plan to devote a week to following the tutorial (when I have a bit of time) and learn HTML. I predict it will be a valuable (and marketable) skill to have in the very new future. %T Teach Yourself Web Publishing with HTMP in a Week %A Laura Lemay %I SAMS Publishing %C Indianapolis Indiana %D 1995 %O paperbound, $25.00 USA, $34.95 Canada %G ISBN: 0-672-30667-0 %P 397 pp %K World Wide Web, HTML, Internet (C) 1995 Michael Crestohl Nahant Massachusetts USA mc@shore.net DISCLAIMER: I have no interest, financial or otherwise, in the success or failure of the book or materials reviewed herewith, nor have I received any compensation (other than a review copy requested by me) from anyone who has.
